Suspensions Guidelines

Exhibition, Tournament, Provincials and Other Hockey Alberta (HA) Sanctioned events

·    The HA Zone Discipline Coordinator or designate rules on all non-League suspensions.

·    The home team will send a copy of the game sheet and Referee report to the HA Zone Discipline Coordinator or designate for the home team Zone.  See the Zone – LMHA reference document  under the League/Suspension/Guidelines pages on the ERBHL website for the Zone Discipline Coordinator contact info.

·    A copy of the League gamesheet where the suspension is served must be sent to the Zone Discipline Coordinator to show that the suspended player served the suspension ( game sheet shows player as ‘SUSP’)

Hockey Canada Rule 9.6  Penalties

·    The game sheet and Officials Report for these infractions go directly to the HA Zone Discipline Coordinator and the ERBHL VP Discipline.

Hockey Canada Rule Violations resulting in Indefinite Suspensions

·    All Indefinite Suspension information goes to the HA Zone Discipline Coordinator and copy is sent to the ERBHL VP Discipline.

League Suspension Guidelines

·    All coaches and team officials are expected to know the HA Minimum Suspension Guidelines.  The HA Minimum Suspension Guidelines are available on the ERBHL website under League/Suspension/Suspensions.

·    Suspended players must sit out the next game(s), whether or not a Suspension Notice is received before the next game is played.   The ERBHL Suspension Notice will confirm if the suspension is for the Minimum Suspension Guideline number of games or if additional games are being assessed for the suspension.

·    All suspended players/coaches must be shown on the game sheet as “SUSP”. 

·    Additional suspension above the HA Minimum Guidelines may be issued at any time based on the circumstances of the infraction.

·    Progressive discipline will begin for any player or team official who receives more than three Game Misconducts (GM) for any reason in League play.  Progressive discipline means the fourth GM suspension will be the Hockey Alberta (HA) Minimum plus one game, for the fifth GM the suspension will be the HA Minimum plus 2 games, etc.
